Very affordable. Not that exciting. The food is all right. Good comic book shops. Excellent second-hand clothing shops. Lousy public transportation system.

Good food, but the subways smell icky. On the other hand, some fun architecture and lots of American history.

living in Philly commuting to Newark? Live either in Powelton Village or Old City, both of them are close to regional rail, but also nice. I would probably recommend the latter over the former, though I may oddly enough recommend living in Wilmington, DE. It's easy enough to get to Philly, it's closer to Newark and it's a nice little place to live.

Been to Philly 4 times -- still can't figure out why anyone likes it. Seems to be relatively dirty and crime-infested compared with other big cities.
