HBO not run by a bunch of idiots: they've decided to pick up Game of Thrones

I like the actors & actresses they've assembled so far. They've got a mini Tudors/P&P/British historical miniseries thing going on that suggests they're approaching the text the right way.

Speaking of history, the screenwriter of "Milk" is doing an Edgar Hoover biopic. Long overdue, I think...

And Dracula fans take note: Austrian filmmaker Stefan Ruzowitzky ("The Counterfeiters") is in negotiations to direct the horror-thriller "The Last Voyage of the Demeter". In Stoker's Dracula, the Demeter is the ship that mysteriously wrecks off England. We later learn that it was the vampires' transport to Britain, natch. Unlike many "reimaginings" of old horror books, this movie's actually a cool idea.

Wait, what? I'm teaching Dracula this week in my lit class, and I TOTALLY had that idea about the Demeter movie! I thought it sounded so original and like such a good idea. Hmph.
