David Cunningham to direct The Dark is Rising for Walden
Hmmm. I don't know that I like Walden's involvement... TDIR is a lot, well, darker than normal kid's fare, and I'm worried they'll strip that side out of it. Then again, they got the Blitz into Narnia, so what do I know.
Screenplay is by John Hodge. (Er... the best thing he did was Trainspotting, so maybe I shouldn't worry about this being dark enough).
And... David Cunningham? Director of The Path to 9-11 (TV movie)?????
Oh dear.

Date: 2006-10-26 04:38 pm (UTC)Wow. For the first time, um, ever, i'm terrified that they won't do it as good as the movie in my head.
Ironic that some of the comments say this is "trying to capitalize on the Harry Potter phenomenon." Hate to break it to you, kids, but Will Stanton was around *way* before Harry (and he's a lot less of a punk, too).
I wonder, if TDIR does well, if they're going to do the whole series? If so, i wonder if they'd go back and film Over Sea, Under Stone or just allude to it in Greenwitch.
Not that i'm a big geek about this series, or read it every couple of years or anything...
