Just saw Supernatural ep 10, which I think was the last episode for a while. You know, I don't often say this about Supes (much as I like the show), but

SPOILERS!

REALLY! I MEAN IT!

Episode thoughts:

Loved the ongoing Ruby/Sam action. My, but the actress playing Ruby this season is much better than the average CW chick, and sooo much better than ParisHilton!Ruby. In the torture scene/obligatory problematic femsploitation moment of the episode I kept wincing and waving don't kill the good actress! at the CW.

Speaking of acting, props to Jensen Ackles for the last scene. I'm not usually impressed by Dean's emoting (he's always so obviously "playing" the bad boy, you know?) but apparently Hell is really, really bad. I was convinced. Go Ackles.

And the guy playing Castiel! Nice "oh I feel somewhat bad about this" reaction to the Dean/Anna kiss at the barn.

And Anna! Last episode I was pretty sure she was the Antichrist (which would have been awesome.) The fallen angel revelation was nifty (though she still might be the Antichrist. And I was wondering for a bit there if she was Lucifer. But apparently not.) Again, another good actress. What is up at the CW? Isn't that the network that hires pin-ups over actresses?

The "grace" plot was a little Stardust for me, but props to the Supes folks for doing something a bit different with angel mythology. I really liked the Heaven vs. Hell confrontation in the barn. I wish, though, that the writers hadn't decided to make Sam have planned the whole thing. The "omg, they were planning it all along!" has been done SO many times on the show, and really, it would have been far more interesting to have Dean's/Ruby's betrayals been *real.* Because Ruby can't just be Sam's cheerleading section. She's a demon, for godsakes. She'd better be up to something.

(And wasn't it great that Sam + Dean have demon + angel love interests, respectively? I like these girls. I want them to stay around.)

Other things: I'm glad the psychic came back in this episode. She struck me as an annoying, one note character the first time around, but she's a lot cooler now that she's blind. I love that she's sporting demon eyes. I wonder if that's significant?

Further plot points: we need to find out what Bobby's up to. I doubt Dean told the whole truth about hell - specifically, he may have tortured some people we know. And Sam clearly hasn't told Dean the whole truth. I wonder what he's doing to power up his evil batteries? Drinking blood? Sacrificing babies? Playing D&D? Waatching Gossip Girl? Only time will tell.
