I just keep scatting away

Just finished the poorly written Peter Wilkins portion of my first chapter. It needs severe polishing around the edges because it's well, crap. But it nevertheless represents progress. So yay, progress!
In other, far more amazing news I also finished the first draft of my novel today. It clocks in at around 75000 words (MS wrdcnt) - God knows what that is in manuscript format. It's terribly mismatched, hybrid freak of a draft, but it's done, and now in need of extensive revision.
For those of you checking in at home, that's the first novel I've ever written. My goal was to finish a draft of it this semester, and lo-and-behold - 'tis complete! 75,000 words! It makes the dissertation seem that much more possible.
Also completed: a tomato-avocado-spaghetti recipe; part of the reading for next week; bridesmaid-dress shopping; a query letter & half of "Lost" episode 11. Will Locke get fried by a sonic boom-stick? Tune in to find out!
LONG OVERDUE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS
Aaron Sorkin to turn Flaming Lips album into musical.
Say *what*?
If you could use your mad tv-show-creator powers to mount crazy Broadway productions, would you do it? (No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no...)
You thought that "Paradise Lost" movie sounded crazy!? But wait! THERE'S MORE!
Cause we can't get enough divine warfare 'round here.
Well... this project has me slightly more hopeful because
a) it's based on a comic book, so at the very least I may get to watch Nick Cage or Keanu Reeves destroy Biblical tradition
b) Nothing with Satan in it can be totally bad (right?)
and c) it's not pretending to be Milton.
On a similar note, Anderson has left Castlevania. Praise the Lord!
Have you heard that BSG will be doing a Pegasus miniseries? That's hot. The spoilers for season 3, on the other hand, make me twitchy. (How dare they dismiss my favorite theories!)
The Igor movie sounds cute.
...and that's all for now, folks.

Date: 2007-03-29 05:00 am (UTC)I worry, of course, that it's too brusque a resolution. I wouldn't want to turn out one of those "...and that's it!" Neal Stephenson endings. I'm really going to have to study the overall shape of the plot in revisions.

Date: 2007-03-29 02:01 pm (UTC)Too bad about the BSG theories - you always state them with such perfectly believable conviction of absolute and ineluctable fact that I'm just as surprised as you are. Especially re: Starbuck.
