Neither did I. Basically, once I got past the climax I realized that the resolution I'd been planning for one of the characters didn't really belong in the draft... so that went... after which I just needed to get the other characters to the point I'd wanted to leave them at when I wrote the first sentence of this draft oh so long ago.

I worry, of course, that it's too brusque a resolution. I wouldn't want to turn out one of those "...and that's it!" Neal Stephenson endings. I'm really going to have to study the overall shape of the plot in revisions.
