So, one of my new tropical plants seems to have come with its own set of Annoying Little Flies (tm) as accessories. I don't know what these things are, whether they're you're ordinary sort of tree flies or Weird Tropical Blood Flies or what. All I know is that chasing them around the room and swatting them with exam books is only proving marginally helpful.

This is the second time that I have accidentally subjected myself to an infestation, but hopefully the plant saga will work out better than the famous Cockroach Bedroom Infestation of 2001 (in which, I will have you know, I exterminated an entire cockroach colony by myself, although I probably gassed a few years off my life in the process).

Hehe, too bad you can't catch them in a jar and pass off to our local biology lab instructor...

Cockroach infestation? Which you exterminated yourself? Dude, that's hardcore.

I don't have a strong aversion to insects; I don't care about spiders or beetles or other crawlies...except for cockroaches. I can't deal with those AT ALL. :shudder:

At least you have flies and not cockroaches. Right?

So maybe you need some big, fly-eating tropical plants with jaws? If those get out of hand, you can always get a colony of tropical birds to eat the scary plants.
