Take that, BSG finale

Final verdict: intriguing. "Caprica" has some allusions to BSG, but definitely asks people to judge it on its own merits. Those who come to it looking for a straightforward BSG clone will be disappointed (particularly those fans who used to complain about there being too much character development and not enough battles on BATTLEstar Galactica). Myself, I just didn't understand what the appeal was going to be. We already know what happens to Caprica, and to the cylons, and the Adamas. What was the story that remained to be told?

So I didn't have very high hopes for this series, particularly as it again featured an Adama as a central character. As described on BSG, Joseph Adama was a saint, and saints don't tend to interest me. So I was glad to see in Caprica that he was far from saintly, although I found the mafia plotline heavy-handed.

I liked Zoe, the Soldiers of the One, and the virtual reality plotlines. All were interesting enough to keep me watching even if they had nothing to do with BSG. Also, as I indicated at the beginning of this post, the show promises to re-open some cans of worms that the BSG finale closed down prematurely. So all in all, thumbs up from me.

Oh yeah.

Both Hubby and myself enjoyed the movie very much and I am looking forward to the show. :) Also, it was very well made.
