Just got back from WFC, and... I think the expression is "oof!"
I had a wonderfully exhausting time going to panels and talking to/drinking with/Thingifying brilliant people. Some of these people were old friends and acquaintances, and some of them I'd never met before. Some, oddly, were both: I'm still not quite used to my undergrad internet life catching up to me in the form of fellow OWW critters, but I was very glad when it did.
Alas, I didn't get as much time as I would have liked to spend with all the people I liked, but that (I gather) is the way of cons. As it was, I got to watch
ninja_turbo sing Joni Mitchell, and
oktober_ghost compose one of her songs, the title of which shall temporarily go unmentioned, given that will (hopefully) soon be a story title for one of my CW classmates. I hit the Tor party with
ombriel, drank the elixir of life, and re-met the indefatigable
stillsostrange. Hopefully next time I go I'll be able to spend more time with the likes of
swan_tower and
unforth, as I didn't nearly get to see them as much as I would have liked to. But that lies in the future.
In the meantime I have to say that I throughly enjoyed the WFC experience. This is only the second convention I've been to, and like my first, it is, I gather hardly a "typical" con. I look forward to going to more.
And I'm happy to report that my first-ever reading went very well. Massive thanks to everyone who came out to hear me read. I really appreciate it.
Now I'm back home, sleep-deprived but tea-equipped. Here's hoping you all have a pleasant and (fairly) sane election day.
