Academy rules kept this film out of contention for Best Foreign Film, but it's been nominated for Best Animated feature instead. I liked the graphic novel, and I'm looking forward to seeing the film version.
In other news, Danny Boyle's Sunshine is like _Alien_ if the filmmakers had decided to keep that annoying, competent Ripley-character in the background and focus instead on the good-looking, incompetent hero and his bland love interest. Because that, after all, is what audiences love.
