Del Toro Says "Hobbit" Deal Unsure

I'm not surprised. I hope he gets it over Raimi though.

I love Jim Henson. I'd definitely be interested in this project.

Toshiaki Karasawa to Lead Toho's $57 million sci-fi trilogy "20th Century Boy"

Never heard of this, but the premise is interesting: The trilogy is based on a hit comic by Naoki Urasawa that ran in Big Comic Spirits magazine from 1999 to 2006.

The series is about a store manager (Karasawa) who wrote a prediction about the end of the world when he was a teenager, which seems to be coming true.

Oscar nominees (directing): The Diving Bell and The Butterfly trailer

[Error: unknown template video]
Here's the trailer for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Julian Schnabel is nominated for directing it. This is an example of one of the foreign films that is kept out of Oscar contention by stupid Academy rules, but which impresses people enough that they nominate it for something else.

I haven't seen TDBATB but I'm betting it's pretty good. The Academy gave the nom to this film over Atonement, which indicates that they feel pretty much the same way I did about that film.
