I tried to watch "The Nine." I really did. I was even looking forward to it.

But seriously, how much infodump can one stomach in the first five minutes of an episode.

Switched channel. Watched Project Runway instead. Amazing how even a clip show of PR is better than the average episode of any other reality tv show.

Ah, the rare mid-student-conference break. I'm in that hamster-on-a-wheel space right now, where I'm on one hand doing a lot of little things, but on the other not really accomplishing anything of importance. Well, I did get half of my WWZ review written, but my dissertation proposal needs timetabling. And then reading and writing. *sigh*

The snowflakes seem to be doing pretty well so far. That makes me feel good.

In other news, I'm going to need two cold readers for a pair of sf stories. Is anyone up to critting some fiction?

You know this holiday thing has gone too far when...

So, I thought it was a bit ridiculous when the Xmas stuff rolled out in September, pushing the fall stuff out of the way. I mean, we haven't *had* Halloween or Thanksgiving yet - must we make room for Xmas already?

On Oct 1 I notice that the apt down the street from me has put out a jack o' lantern. On Oct 1st. Seriously. How long do they think pumpkins last?

On Oct 2nd I walk down the street and see that some teenager has smashed the jack o' lantern all over the sidewalk. This makes me saddest of all. Vandalism strictly a Nov 1st thing, or there's no point.
