Nov. 4th, 2005 10:42 amHad a lot of fun seeing
pythia_akrypta et al. at the wine bar last night. I risked going for some tasters, though I really need to get the mono-thing cleared up before I get back in the drinking game. The conversation about genre tv shows made me realize how much I miss having a geek posse to watch tv with. I realize most people are now tv-less-DVD-addicts, but I still think I'll sponsor a "hang n' watch the current episode of X at my apt" night sometime in the future. (Probably "Smallville," since nothing *ever really happens* on that show. Not that I care. Bring on paranoid Clark! Whooooooooo!)
In other news:
Had my post-observation meeting with the Director today, and it went really well. (Yes!) Last time I was observed by her, I had to deal with a student-student confrontation that I didn't handle particularly well, so it was nice to be able to redeem myself. (Most of the credit, however, goes to my talkative students, who managed to be very brilliant and not kill each other over the course of the class period.)
I've now crossed "The Monk" off my list; my next exam list book is going to be "Wuthering Heights," which I have somehow never got around to reading. (But I listened to the Kate Bush song. That counts, right?!) I'm also reorganizing my 18C loony-bin paper to talk about political paranoia. I would like to fit the story of the Fairy Pope in here somewhere, but I doubt it'll make it in.
Still to do:
Figure out whether or not the VCR is on the fritz.
Watch _Hellraiser._
Figure out how and where my sink is leaking.
Get that damn AC replaced.
Write essay.
Teach.
Grade.
Plan Monday's lesson.
Scan extra readings.
Read WH.
Read Little, Big.
Freak out. (Don't know about what yet, but I feel I should schedule in some time in advance.)
Go to comp lit party (?)
