Last night went fine, after all that. Now I've only got next week to worry about.

I have to finally acknowledge that this week was full of media awesomeness. I'll have to do a full review post later, but in the meantime I'll just note that:

1) Tim Gunn is awesome.

2) Battlestar Galactica is one of the smartest shows on TV, bar none.

Thoughts on BSG

OK more on BSG. I was one of those viewers who thought the planet-bound time-leaping season finale was a good idea. And boy, did the S3 premiere come out swinging.

I am *very* intrigued by the show's switch from "post-9-11 America" to "Occupied Iraq" as their thematic background of choice. The conflicted and highly scary human insurgence? Brilliant. It's hard to watch some of the few "goodish" characters digging their own graves (can Tigh ever come back from this?), and the "baddish" ones sinking still further (points to Baltar for *trying* to stick up for the human race. We better hope that his hallucinatory 6 knows what it's doing.) But my *favorite* storyline is Starbuck's "really desperate housewife" dilemma. The blue color tint, tilting shots, surreal setup - everything about it is fantastic. And for the record, I vote that it's not really her kid, but the child of one of the detainees that her "cylonhubby" found to break her.

I picked up on Battlestar this season (starting with the catch-up episode) and have liked it much more than I did the miniseries. I'm sold now.
