I don't think our students realize the degree to which their teachers agonize over the grades we assign.
3 hours. 3 freakin' papers graded, all of them tragic. The students worked hard and I worked hard to help them fix thesis statements and organization, but at the end of it? The flaming wreckage of what could have been a good essay.
I feel like those NASA scientists who send up test planes only to watch good pilots and years of hard work come down in horrible fireballs.
