Dec. 21st, 2009 10:12 pmMy favorite news item of the week is that Studio Ghibli has announced it will be adapting Mary Norton's fantasy classic "The Borrowers" as its next feature. As far as children's adaptations go, this one seems overdue.
Now, I have no idea what this next item has to do with Foucault, but given the title, I'm intrigued: Peter Cornwell ("The Haunting in Connecticut") is in talks to direct the sci-fi thriller mystery "The Panopticon". The story follows a salesman receives a pre-recorded message from himself that tells him the world is about to end and only he can save it.
In other news, Peter Jackson is considering making a movie about Gallipoli, Natalie Portman will be starring in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (thus cementing it as one of the few Jane Austen films my brother is likely to see), Bryan Singer will be returning to the "X-Men" Franchise (Thanks, Santa!) and there's a film in the works called Wife vs. Ninja, which just makes me happy.
