Jul. 21st, 2006 03:07 pmLast night I made the discovery that 1985's Commando is the movie that best defines the gleeful ironic-yet-unironic use of the word "awesome!"
See Arnold Schwarzenegger destroy public property at every opprtunity in order to show off his muscles! See him find an excuse to take his shirt off - again! See stuff blow up repeatedly from different angles and then - because of bad continuity - blow up again! See hysterically useless female sidekicks spontaneously figure out the use of rocket launchers! Listen to the hilariously upbeat Carribean/action soundtrack! See Schwarzenegger's character work out his homoerotic tension with a muscle-bound disco villain who clearly understudied with the Village People!
There was so much awesome in this movie I couldn't keep track of it all. It was great.
