Well, my day has been kinda crappy so far. But in the desire to report silver linings I should note that a prof I really respect put me down as her personal choice to assist her in teaching a lit course. This despite the fact that I haven't really interacted with her beyond a single class I took with her four years ago.

(Whether or not I get the job will depend on the seniority of other applicants, of course. But still.)
